Local report: Scott leads the way as Jam defeats Texas

Forward Mike Scott scored 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, including seven on offense, to lead the Bakersfield Jam to a 117-108 victory Tuesday over the Texas Legends at the Dignity Health Event Center.
Forward James Nunnally scored 18 points and guard Jerel McNeal added 17 for the Jam (25-11), which trailed 54-52 at halftime.
Guard Justin Dentmon led Texas (17-21) with 25 points and backcourt mate Christian Eyenga added 24 points. Both players were 8-of-16 from the field, and 8-of-8 from the free throw line.
The Jam's next game is at Erie (Pa.) on Saturday.
JC women's tennis
VENTURA -- Bakersfield College's Jackie Griffin and Leah Stewart each swept their singles and doubles matches but the Renegades still were not able to overcome host Ventura College, which edged the Renegades 5-4 in a Western State Conference match.
The Renegades (5-3) host Glendale College on Thursday.
