Local report: Mills' 1st career win leads CSUB softball

OREM, Utah -- Amber Mills threw a complete-game shutout to earn her first victory as a Roadrunner to help the Cal State Bakersfield softball team to a 2-0 victory over Utah Valley in Pacific Coast Softball Conference action Saturday.

Mills allowed four hits, with one strikeout and no walks as the 'Runners (7-22, 3-5 PCSC) split the doubleheader with the Wolverines (20-12, 5-3 PCSC). Utah Valley won Game 1, 3-1.

Mills also came up big for CSUB on offense, going 2-for-3 and stealing home in the second inning. Adrianna Cardoza also went 2-for-3.

Shay Fryer went 2-for-3 with an RBI in first game.

CSUB water polo

No. 1 ranked USC defeated Cal State Bakersfield 19-6 in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play.

The Women of Troy scored on five of its first six possessions and did not allow a CSUB goal until 4:22 of the second period when Jessica Browning got the Roadrunners (10-18, 0-4) on the board. USC (18-0, 4-0) led 10-1 at halftime.

JC baseball

Taft College gave up three unearned runs in the first inning to ignite Mount San Jacinto to a 10-5 victory.

Travis Tessandori, Josh Roelofs and Shane Sudsbury had two hits apiece for the Cougars (7-19-1).

NBA D-League

BOISE, Idaho -- The Bakersfield Jam blew a 20-point lead and fell to the Idaho Stampede,108-95 at CenturyLink Arena.

James Nunnally led the Jam with 22 points, while Stephen Dennis posted 20 points, seven steals, six assists and five rebounds.
