Ten former Bakersfield College athletes will be inducted into the Bakersfield College Track and Field and Cross Country Hall of Fame on Thursday.

The 31st annual installation dinner will be held in the BC cafeteria. Tickets are $35 apiece and must be purchased by Monday.

The inductees are former BC athletic director Jan Stuebbe; Robert Bethea, a notable triple jumper on the 1965-66 Renegade teams; Lynette Wilson-Horton, a standout on BC's first women's track teams in 1980 and '81; Jack Sands from the 1969-70 teams; John Laird, who ran cross country and track from 1976-78; Allison McDonald, a member of the BC women's state championship team in 1997; David Lonsinger, who competed in track from 1977-79; the late Larry Clemons, who competed at BC in 1980-81 and holds the school record in the long jump (25-81/4); cross country and track runner Giovani Perezchica who competed from 2002-04; and LaShay Bagsby, who won the women's state high jump in 2006.

Also being honored is Dr. John C. Alexander, who will receive the BC Foundation Lifetime Service Award.

Alexander has been the Renegades' team dentist for 27 years.

A special guest scheduled to appear is Ross Thornton, who is 100 years old and believed to be the oldest living former BC athlete.

Thornton, who was born in 1912, was an all-conference center on the 1933 BC football team.

For ticket information, call Becky Hawthorne at the BC ticket office, (661) 395-4326 and leave a message.
