Local report: CSUB women's soccer plays to draw

MORAGA -- Megan Todd tied the match for Cal State Bakersfield in the 35th minute on a header as the Roadrunners and St. Mary's played to a 1-1 draw Sunday. Todd scored off a corner kick by Daisy Vazquez.

Viki Shimkus scored the Gaels' lone goal in the 21st minute of the match. Neither team scored in the socond half or overtime.

CSUB has two wins, a tie and a loss in its last four matches, three of which have come away from Bakersfield. The Roadrunners next host Utah Valley on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Main Soccer Field.

Hood wins finale

Larry Hood of Bakersfield wrapped up the IMCA Modified regular season at Bakersfield Speedway in impressive fashion Saturday night by driving to his second straight victory.

Hood slid past Troy Morris Jr. on the 19th lap and went on to a three-car length victory over Joey Yantis.

"It makes it really fun," Hood said of his late season surge which saw him win two straight and four of his last six races. "There's a lot of good drivers out here and there was some good driving."

Hood's four wins are the most in the division this season. Santa Maria's Josh Vogt finished third followed by Bakersfield drivers Larry Wise and Morris.
