Cal State Bakersfield sophomore Eduardo Caldaza was named Western Athletic Conference men's soccer offensive player of the week.

Caldaza had two goals and two assists in CSUB's 4-3 win over UNLV on Saturday that helped the Roadrunners clinch the No. 2 seed in the WAC Tournament that starts Thursday. The six points in the match are the most by any WAC player in a contest this season.

CSUB faces Missouri-Kansas City at 2 p.m. Thursday in the WAC Tournament's first round. The WAC Tournament winner on Sunday automatically qualifies for the NCAA Tournament.

Ex-Driller Wallace honored by Pac-12

California sophomore guard Tyrone Wallace, a Bakersfield High graduate, was named the Pac-12 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

Wallace, in his second season as a starter, scored a career-high 20 points to lead the Golden Bears (1-0) to an 83-64 season-opening victory over Coppin State on Friday in Berkeley.

Wallace also totaled seven assists, six rebounds, two steals and a block in 34 minutes. He was 7-of-14 from the field and recorded three of Cal's nine 3-pointers in the game.

Cal continues its four-game season-opening homestand today, when the Bears face Denver at 8 p.m.
