RIVERSIDE -- Kory Kindle scored a pair of goals Sunday night as Cal State Bakersfield handed No. 19 UC Riverside its first loss of the season, 2-0.
The Roadrunners (3-1-4) struck quickly as Kindle converted a Gyasi Zardes pass just 1:11 into the match. Kindle scored again at 42:53 as he completed a give-and-go from Zardes. Jesus Sanchez also earned an assist on the play.
The Highlanders pressed the Roadrunners, taking all five of their second half shots in the final minutes of the match.
Eric Shannon made four saves as he recorded his 26th career shutout.
"It was perhaps our most complete performance of the season," said CSUB coach Simon Tobin in a press release. "Considering we had a tough trip to SMU (Thursday) and UC Riverside was ranked No. 19, we outplayed them in every department."
The Roadrunners next plays Saturday when they host UNLV at 7 p.m.
