SACRAMENTO -- Cael Brockmeyer ripped a three-run homer in the 10th inning Sunday to give Cal State Bakersfield a 6-3 victory over Sacramento State.
The Roadrunners (17-7) won their season-opening Western Athletic Conference series 2 games to 1.
CSUB's Dylan Christensen led off the 10th with an infield single. Kevin Younger reached on an error by Sac State's backup catcher, Shawn Wheeler. With one out, Brockmeyer hit his third home run of the season.
Will Soto walked on four straight Dylan Christensen pitches to begin the Hornets' 10th, but Christensen retired the next three Hornets to seal the victory.
The Roadrunners' Mylz Jones extended his hitting streak to 15 games with a single in the second inning. Jeremy Rodriguez set CSUB's hitting streak mark of 19 games in 2010.
Brockmeyer and Christensen had two hits apiece Sunday.
Christensen, who worked the final two innings, improved to 1-1.
Sacramento State dropped to 13-10.
The Roadrunners scored first on Frank Martinez's RBI sacrifice fly in the second inning. The Hornets tied it 1-1 in the fourth on Justin Higley's RBI single.
Rhys Hoskins doubled in Higley in the seventh, and Dane Fujinaka's RBI single gave the Hornets a 3-1 lead.
Bakersfield put runners on the corners with two outs in the eighth.
Tyler Shryock singled in Jordie Hein to make it 3-2. The Hornets brought in Brandon Creel to relieve Tanner Mendonca to face Brockmeyer. Creel hit the 6-foot-5 first baseman to load the bases.
Then a wild pitch by Creel enabled Christensen to score the tying run.
Higley singled in the bottom of the ninth off CSUB reliever Hayden Carter, and Hoskins walked on four straight pitches.
Christensen entered and held the Hornets scoreless the rest of the way.
The Roadrunners next host No. 23 UC Irvine at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
