STOCKTON -- Bakersfield College had three placewinners and took 12th as a team with 31 points at the California community college state wrestling championships at San Joaquin Delta that concluded Saturday.
Freshman Dillan Harroun was the Renegades' top individual finisher, placing fifth at 174 pounds.
Heavyweight Josh Davis, the only Renegade to reach the semifinals, lost in double overtime to eventual state winner Nader Abdullatif of Mt. San Antonio. Davis again lost in double OT in the consolation semifinals and finished seventh when he suffered a knee injury in his last match and lost 2-1.
Southern California regional 149-pound champion Max Ramirez was pinned in the quarterfinals and finished seventh for the second straight year.
CSUB swimmers split
RIVERSIDE -- Cal State Bakersfield posted a 154-145 win over Cal Baptist in women's swimming Saturday while the Roadrunner men lost to Cal Baptist 151-143.
The CSUB women were led by Delise Batiza, who won the 500 free (5:09.90) and 1,000 free (xxx); Michaela Paige, who won the 100 butterfly (57.47) and 200 fly (2:05.24); and Paola Hernandez, who won the 200 free (1:55.19) and 200 IM (2:08.26).
For the CSUB men, Mitchell Huxhold won the 200 free (1:41.76), 500 free (4:37.06) and 1,000 free (9:28.82) and was part of CSUB's winning 400 free relay team.
Louis Wojciechowski won the 50 free (21.52) and 100 free (47.00) and Tyler Greenwald won the 1-meter (256.8) and 3-meter (264.37) diving events.
BC men lose in tourney
SANTA BARBARA -- Pasadena City College used a 10-0 run in the first half to build a 39-25 halftime lead and Bakersfield College couldn't catch up in a 73-68 loss to the Lancers in the consolation championship game of the Santa Barbara City College men's basketball tournament.
Van Holloway had 19 points, Corey McDonald-Mitchell had 13, Alex Daniels scored 11 and Lawrence Moore had 10 for the Renegades (7-4). Pasadena is 8-4.
OROVILLE -- Butte College capped the only unbeaten season in California community college football with a 28-13 win over previously unbeaten Fullerton College to win the California Community College Athletic Association championship Saturday.
Butte (12-0) was led by game MVP Thomas Stuart, who threw for 203 yards and three touchdowns. Tight end Richard Murphy had 143 receiving yards and a TD. Fullerton finished 12-1.
Bakersfield College won the state title in 2012 but later had the championship vacated because of alleged violations of CCCAA rules. BC is appealing.
