Molly O'Hagan and Debora Araujo won a 3-game thriller to lift the Cal State Bakersfield sand volleyball team to a 3-2 victory over Oregon in the 'Runners' first match on their new home sand courts.

"This was a great win over a great Oregon team," said CSUB coach Olivia Simko in a news release. "I am so proud of our team. They have set up the facility, they have worked hard at practice. I have challenged them at practice and we were able to overcome the adversity to pick up the victory."

With the match tied 2-2, O'Hagan and Araujo took the first game 21-11, before Oregon's Liz Brenner and Tatum Norton evened things with a 21-19 win. O'Hagan and Araujo won the fnale 15-12.

The Roadrunners' Hazel Perrins and Sara Little opened with a sweep of Serena Warner and Naya Crittenden.

Mariah Alvidrez and Shayna Guitare allowed just 10 points as the No. 2 Bakersfield pair won in straight sets against Canace Finly and Natalie Gonzalez to give CSUB a 2-1 lead.

The Ducks tied the match when Shellsy Ashen and Kacey Nady defeated Julia Bowen and Lisa Bartsch, 21-15, 21-11 at No. 3.

NBA D-league

BOISE, Idaho -- Ike Diogu had 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Bakersfield Jam to its seventh straight victory, 96-85 over the Idaho Stampede at CenturyLink Arena.

The Jam (21-24) opened up a 54-41 halftime lead, and built a 17-point advantage in the second half.

Jeremy Wise had 14 points, five rebounds and a team-high five assists off the bench, Derrick Byars had 12 points and five rebounds, and Dennis Horner had eight points and 12 rebounds for Bakersfield.

Kevin Murphy led Idaho with a game-high 20 points and Vander Blue added 17.
