Seattle scored a goal in each half and the Cal State Bakersfield women’s soccer team suffered its sixth shutout loss in its last seven games, 2-0, on Friday night at the CSUB Main Soccer Field.
Taylor Ritzman scored in the 12th minute while Stephanie Verdoia added her league leading seventh goal in the 50th minute for the Redhawks’ goals.
“Seattle is a very disciplined team and it was unacceptable to give up the goal that we allowed in the first half,” said CSUB coach Melissa Phillips in a news release. “The goal we gave up in the first five minutes of the second half was due to a lack of focus. I commend our effort to get back in the game in the last 15 minutes. We had several encouraging signs but we need to show a level of constancy moving forward."
Bakersfield hosts Idaho Sunday at noon.
