Roadrunner softball team falls at UCLA

LOS ANGELES -- Cal State Bakersfield's softball team concluded the final day of the UCLA Tournament with losses to Loyola-Chicago, 5-2, and the host Bruins.

In the opener, Kelsie Monroe pitched well in relief, giving up just one run on five hits with six strikeouts in 5-2/3 inning s.

Kara Frankhouser drove in CSUB's first run in the fourth on a groundout that plated Amy Ricciardi, and Karissa Veiga followed with her fourth triple of the season to cut Loyola's lead to 4-2.

Against UCLA, the 'Runners tied the game at 2 with two runs in the third inning, thanks to an error, a single by Veiga and a two-run double by Sydney Raeber.

CSUB baseball

The Roadrunners series finale at Portland was rained out Sunday.
