Cal State Bakersfield benefitted from a pair of Saturday losses by Seattle University and Texas-Pan American, and clinched the sixth seed for its first appearance in the Western Athletic Conference men's basketball tournament, which begins Thursday at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.

CSUB (12-18) will take on third-seeded Chicago State (13-18) at 6 p.m. Thursday.

The Roadrunners were 0-2 against the Cougars this season, losing 71-63 on Jan. 23 in Bakersfield and 73-68 on Feb. 23 in Chicago.

The winner of that game will take on the winner of No. 2 New Mexico State and No. 7 Seattle in the semifinals, Friday at 8:30 p.m.
