SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Cal State Bakersfield's 800-yard women's freestyle relay team broke the school record by 11 seconds in winning the race at Wednesday's Western Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships.
The team of Michaela Paige, Paola Hernandez, Kelsey Lange and Dellise Batiza clocked 7:16.08, beating the old CSUB record set in 2013, and winning the race by nearly seven seconds. Paige's portion of the race was 1:47.33, the second-fastest 200-yard freestyle time in CSUB's history.
The 200 medley relay of Jeannette Dove, Dylana Milobar, Nicholette Goncalves and Lauren Kaufman placed seventh in 1:43.49, the second-fastest time in CSUB's history.
For the men, Mitchell Huxhold, Alex Kotliarsky, Tomas Bruce and Gabriel Bertrand placed third in the 800 free relay in a school-record 6:27.76. Huxhold's leadoff 200 leg of 1:35.35 broke his own record.
The CSUB men are fifth with 71 points with Wyoming leading with 104. The women are in sixth with 69 points with Northern Arizona and Idaho tied for first with 106.

MOSCOW, Idaho -- Cal State Bakersfield's Erica Hawkins placed 17th among 19 participants in the women's indoor pentathlon at the WAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Hawkins, a senior, tallied 2,534 points. New Mexico State's Deserae Cota won with 3,365.
Hawkins had an 11.22 in the 60-meter hurdles, high jumped 4-8 1/4, had a 28-1 in the shot put, long jumped 14-10 and ran 2:35.94 in the 800 meters.
Wednesday's scheduled baseball game between Cal State Bakersfield and Fresno State in Fresno was postponed because of weather concerns and will be made up on Tuesday, May 13.
