Local report: Taft rallies past West Hills in baseball

TAFT -- Clint Jorgensen's RBI double in the seventh tied the game and he scored later in the inning on a wild pitch to give Taft College the lead for good in a 4-2 Central Valley Conference baseball win over West Hills College.

Winning pitcher Allan Sanchez (2-6) allowed two runs, one earned, in eight innings with nine strikeouts. Roman Tstani was 2-for-3 with two runs and a solo home run in the eighth for Taft (8-17-1, 5-9 CVC). Adrian Rodriguez and Travis Tessandori also had two hits for the Cougars.

BC splits in softball

Bakersfield College's Morgan Petersen reached on an error in the seventh inning and scored on Shelbe Pennel's double to the left-center field fence to give the Renegades a 5-4 first-game win over L.A. Mission College in a Western State Conference Blue Division softball game at BC.

Mission won the second game 12-7.

Brittney Roberts had two homers for BC in the second game and Katie Hoffman was 5-for-7 in the doubleheader. Kelsey Best and Brooke Charles also had home runs for BC (4-23 overall, 3-9 WSC Blue).
