College roundup: CSUB volleyball team swept in finale

SAN JOSE -- Debora Araujo led Cal State Bakersfield with 18 kills and nine digs but the Roadrunners were swept 25-20, 25-22, 25-22 in the season-ending match by host San Jose State.
CSUB finished the season 14-17, six more victories than it earned the previous season. SJSU improved to 14-14.
The match featured seven lead changes and 18 ties in the three sets.
Araujo, a junior outside hitter, finished the season with 475 kills, which made it into the CSUB's all-time top 10 list for a single season.
Junior setter Fernanda Gonçalves posted 36 assists and six digs. Opposite hitter Kelsee Sawyer ended a successful freshman campaign by totaling nine kills and four digs. She finished the season with 313 kills, second-best on the squad.
Redshirt sophomore libero Mariah Alvidrez recorded 11 digs for the 'Runners.
The Spartans were led by Michaela Leonard's 13 kills and Hanah Blume's 10.
BC football playoff tickets on sale
Advance sale tickets for Saturday's Southern California Football Association semifinals between Bakersfield and Ventura colleges will be sold tonight before and during BC's volleyball home match vs. Santa Monica College and all day Thursday at the BC ticket office.
Kickoff at Ventura College will be 6 p.m. Saturday between No. 2 seed Ventura (10-0) and No. 3 BC (8-2).
BC is also offering a rooter's bus for transportation to the game.
The costs are $10 for general admission to the game and $8 for students, BC faculty and children ages 6-18. Children 5-and-under will be admitted free.
The rooter bus ticket is $25 per person which does not include a game ticket. The bus will leave from the BC field house at 2 p.m. Saturday. Special parking for bus travelers will be set up on the BC campus.
Anyone purchasing the football ticket today will receive free admission to the volleyball match, which begins at 7 p.m.
Ventura College has set up a special will-call window for Bakersfield fans attending the game. That window opens at 4 p.m.
