Local report: BC golfers 4th at Lompoc

Jeremy Choi shot an even-par 72 Monday to lead the Bakersfield College men's golf team to a fourth-place finish in the eight-team Point Conception Tournament at La Purisma Golf Course in Lompoc.

College of the Desert won with a team total of 370 and was followed by Ventura (377), Santa Barbara (385) and BC (389). Individual winner Phillip Nash of College of the Desert shot a 71.

Other BC scorers were: Carlos Fernandez (75), Suraj Patel (77), Jack Gilkey (78) and Paul Cooper 83.

Swimming

Bakersfield College graduate and former BC swimmer Joshua DelaRosa of Concordia University in Irvine has qualified for this weekend's NAIA national championships in Oklahoma City in the 100 and 200-yard backstroke races, as well as the 400 individual medley.
