Cal State Bakersfield athletic director Jeff Konya is one of three finalists for the same position at Oakland (Mich.) University, according to The Oakland Press.
Konya, who came to CSUB in November 2010, interviewed for the position at Oakland last week, according to CollegeAD.org.
The other finalists are Steve Watson, the athletic director at St. Bonaventure, and Mark Shook, the associate athletic director at Bowling Green.
Konya, who graduated from Princeton before getting a law degree from Iowa, oversaw the Roadrunners' move into the Western Athletic Conference in 2012 and 2013. He also has formed CSUB's "The New Gold Standard" marketing campaign and helped create the ROWDY Awards to honor CSUB's student-athletes.
Konya was a finalist to become the athletic director at Cal state Northridge in January 2013 but ultimately removed his name from consideration when he received a five-year contract extension from CSUB.
"I'm committed to this community and this institution, and I feel this athletic department is poised to do great things in the years to come," Konya said at the time.
