Local report: CSUB splits at Fresno volleyball tournament

FRESNO -- CSUB went 1-1 at the Fresno State Classic, being swept by the host Bulldogs and defeating Belmont, 3-0.

Against Fresno St., the 'Runners were plagued by poor hitting throughout. Danika Youngblood and Kelsee Sawyer each posted six kills, Fernanda Goncalves had 23 assists and Mariah Alvidrez posted 15 digs.

Against Belmont, Molly O'Hagan had 10 kills and three blocks, and Julia Bowen added eight kills and five blocks to earn all-tournament honors. Gonalves had 20 assists while Lisa Bartsch dished out 19 assists.

JC women's soccer

Feather River scored the game's only goal in the 80th minute and held on for a 1-0 victory over Bakersfield College.

The Renegades (2-2) had a first-half goal called back in the 30th minute.

BC defeated Solano, 2-0, on Friday. D.J. Vidal scored off a pass from Emily Blakslee in the 30th minute and Casey Bryan added another first-half goal on an assist from Reshana Watson to give the 'Gades a 2-0 halftime lead. Jenna Seals made three saves and Kendra Duncan deflected the tying goal in the 60th minute to lead BC.

JC volleyball

Bakersfield College posted wins over Moorpark, 25-19, 25-23, 25-10, and L.A. Pierce, 24-26, 25-18, 25-17, 25-17.

In the first match, Edithza Urias had 12 kills, 10 digs and two aces, while Jessie Trail added nine kills, 12 digs and four aces.

In the second match, Urias had 11 kills, 18 digs and three aces.
