Local report: Condors drop preseason finale

Garet Hunt scored the go-ahead goal in the third period as the Stockton Thunder defeated the Bakersfield Condors, 4-3, on Saturday night in the Condors' final tuneup before the ECHL regular season.
Levi Nelson, Brett Perlini and Peter Boyd each scored for Bakersfield, which opens its regular season Friday at San Francisco.
CSUB cross country
LA JOLLA --Senior Jazmin Lopez led Cal State Bakersfield runners Saturday at the Triton Cross Country Classic Invitational, posting a time of 24 minutes, 7.9 seconds on the 6-kilometer course.
CSUB placed 18th out of 22 teams. Loyola Marymount won the event.
Other top Roadrunner finishers were Monica Guzman (25:37.7, 143rd), Jorey Braughton (25:39.4, 144th), Anaiz Ortiz (25:55.4, 155th) and Melisa Cruz (26:16.2, 169th).
CSUB next races Oct. 13 at the Northridge Invitational.
CSUB volleyball
Junior setter Debora Araujo had her fifth double-double of the season as the Cal State Bakersfield volleyball team fell to Boise State, 25-23, 21-25, 25-16, 28-26 at the Icardo Center.
Araujo had 18 kills and 11 digs in the match.
The Roadrunners next play host to Bucknell today at 5 p.m.
High school football
RIVERDALE-- Zethan Hilberg was all over the field on all sides of the ball for Northwest Christian, which defeated Riverdale Christian 75-22, returning a kickoff 72 yards for a touchdown and rushing for another score. On defense, Hilberg had a fumble recovery and an interception.
Michael Pope led the Guardians with 182 yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries. Northwest Christian (5-1, 1-0 Central Valley Small Schools) will host Kings Christian on Friday at 7 p.m.
