LAS VEGAS -- CSU Bakersfield lost twice to open its softball season, 11-5 to Kent State and 6-0 to No. 5-ranked Oklahoma at the Las Vegas tournament.

The Roadrunners allowed eight runs in the first inning against Kent State, which received four walks and had a three-run homer by Lauren Grimes that inning. CSUB made it closer with two runs in the second and three in the third.

Amy Ricciardi went 3-for-4 with a run scored for CSUB. Karissa Veiga and Taylor DeSilva had two RBIs apiece. Shay Fryer had two hits and scored a run.

Oklahoma scored twice in the first and fifth innings. CSUB was limited to three hits in that game.

"We had a rough first inning against Kent State," CSUB coach Crissy Buck said. "We gave up too many walks and the pitchers just came out pretty shaky. I think it was more nerves than anything."

CSUB faces Weber State today then closes the tourney on Sunday against Minnesota and host UNLV.
