Local report: D-Fenders sink D-League record 26 3-pointers in 155-140 win over Jam

EL SEGUNDO -- The Los Angeles D-Fenders made an NBA D-League record 26 3-point baskets in a 155-140 victory over the Bakersfield Jam.

Los Angeles managed its record total on 50 3-point attempts. Five Jam players scored score 20 or more points: Jared Cunningham (31), Damion James (20), Ike Diogu (20), James Nunnally (20) and Archie Goodwin (20).

The D-Fenders improved to 16-11. Seven of L.A.'s nine scorers reached double figures.

Bakersfield travels to Texas to take on the Toros on Friday and Saturday.

The Phoenix Suns assigned Goodwin to the Jam earlier Wednesday.

Goodwin (6-foot-5, 198 pounds), a 19-year-old rookie out of Kentucky, has appeared in 37 games with the Suns this season, holding averages of 3.1 points, 1.7 rebounds.

This is Goodwin's second assignment to the Jam. In two January games, he averaged 29.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in 44.0 minutes.

BC women prevail

CULVER CITY -- Nakia Page finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds and Claesey Tarver had 16 points, nine rebounds and four assists to lead Bakersfield College to a 65-49 victory at West L.A. College.

The Renegades (9-13) led 30-20 at halftime and never looked back.

Bakersfield will play at Citrus College at 3 p.m Saturday.

BC men beaten

CULVER CITY -- West Los Angeles College took a 10-point first-half lead and maintained a 6- to 8-point edge most of the second half in a 72-64 win over Bakersfield College.

BC (12-11 overall, 2-5 Western State Conference South Division) was led by Corey Mitchell's 22 points and seven rebounds; Van Holloway's 12 points; and Lawrence Moore's 11 points, eight rebounds, four assists and four steals.
