The popular "Brains of Bakersfield" trivia competition that has been coordinated by the Cal State Bakersfield men's soccer program each year will return on May 15 in the Icardo Center.
Registration has begun. This year's event will include a catered meal from Lengthwise Brewing Company, featuring tri-tip, pulled pork and macaroni and cheese. Lengthwise will also have its beer and Zeus Imperial Ale on tap and available for purchase.
The entry fee is $400 per team with a 10-person max, and special sponsorships are also available. This year's categories include general knowledge, sports, history, movies and a special salute to the World Cup.
Proceeds benefit the CSUB men's soccer program.

BC wins in 10th
Cole Hallum doubled to lead off the bottom of the 10th inning, and eventually scored on a wild pitch to give Bakersfield College a 3-2 win over Saddleback College in the final game of the Sequoias tournament held at Gerry Collis Field.
Saddleback (20-14), ranked second in Southern California, took a 2-1 lead in the top of the ninth on three singles and an RBI fielder's choice.
The Renegades (13-20) tied it in the bottom of the ninth when Kaidan Meadows drew a leadoff walk and Jake Verdugo hit a two-out RBI double down the left-field line.
BC scored in the first when Rolando Martinez tripled down the left-field line and Eddie Torres followed with an RBI groundout to shortstop.
Hallum had three of BC's six hits.
BC starting pitcher Allan Winans scattered seven hits, walked two and struck out nine in nine innings.
Taft dominates Fullerton
FULLERTON -- Sophomore right-hander Brandon Van Stone scattered eight singles in a complete-game victory that led Taft to a 9-2 non-conference win over Fullerton.
The Cougars (16-18) had three hits by Roman Testani and a 4-for-4 game with two doubles by Scout Villanueva.
Van Stone (6-5) allowed one earned run and no walks with five strikeouts.
The Cougars scored four runs in the top of the first, with three of the runs scoring on a wild pitch, passed ball and squeeze bunt by Adrian Rodriguez.
Bakersfield College hit four home runs and won its fifth straight Western State Conference Blue Division softball game by beating L.A. Mission College 13-5.
Katie Hoffman, Brenna Vasquez, Vanessa Moralez and Marisela Gonzales each homered for BC (15-22 overall, 10-9 Western State Conference Blue Division).
Vasquez went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and was a triple short of the cycle. Moralez and Hoffman also had three RBIs apiece.
