Bakersfield College snapped an eight-game losing streak with a much-needed 4-2 victory over Glendale College in Western State Conference South play on Saturday night at Gerry Collis Field.
After a shaky start -- a run on three hits in the first inning -- Renegades starter Allan Winans was solid, allowing just one run on two hits in his final five innings of work. He walked two and had two strikeouts.
Jared Solf pitched three scoreless innings in relief, working himself into and out of a bases-loaded jam in the ninth to record his second save.
Back-to-back doubles in the sixth inning by Chris Hopballe and Scout Villanueva in the sixth inning gave Taft College the lead for good in a 4-3 victory over West Hills in Central Valley Conference play.
Nick Risucci (4-3) notched the victory with 6-1/3 innings, allowing Two earned runs on five hits, striking out four and walking three for the Cougars (13-14, 9-9). Brandon Van Stone pitched two scoreless innings in relief to register his first save of the season.
