Cal State Bakersfield point guard Britton Williams announced Thursday on twitter he is transferring to Iona (N.Y.).
Williams averaged 3.7 points and 3.2 assists per game in 29 games last season as a freshman. He averaged 21.5 minutes per game and started six times.
A Liberty High graduate, Williams was thrust into regular play after CSUB's backcourt was devastated by injuries.
Projected starting point guard Issiah Grayson sat out the season recovering from knee surgery. Zach Lamb only played five games before a dislocated ankle ended his season Nov. 20.
"I've decided to transfer to New York and be an Iona Gael," Williams said in his tweet. "Thanks for everything this year people of Bako."
Grayson and Lamb, both seniors, are expected to be fully healthy by the time fall practice begins. CSUB has also added a point guard in JC transfer Tyrell Corbin, son of Utah Jazz head coach Tyrone Corbin.

Haas, an outfielder, led the Southwest Yosemite League with a .495 batting average as a senior, with eight doubles, four triples and a .600 on-base percentage.
Bellevue is an NAIA school in the Omaha, Neb., suburbs. The Bruins' baseball program won its 12th Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference title this past season and finished ranked No. 15 in the country.
