    BC's Brown has uncanny timing

    Garrett Brown isn't the biggest or most physical defensive player at Bakersfield College. But he may be the steadiest.

    Brown, a sophomore outside linebacker, has earned a reputation among BC's players and coaches as being in the right spot at the right time, and he's rarely off the field.

    And with a defensive unit around him dominated by players with little or no experience at the community college level, Brown is invaluable.

    "He's not like some of the guys we've had in the past where you go, 'Wow, look at that guy,' " BC coach Jeff Chudy said.

    "I'll tell you what he does: He plays extremely hard snap to whistle, every down. And we do not sub that guy very much."
