    Brooklynn Hinkens scored a game-high 17 points to lead Cal State Bakersfield past winless UC Santa Barbara 74-64 in women's basketball at the Icardo Center on Tuesday night.

    The Roadrunners (11-4) led 29-27 at halftime. CSUB led by six when the Gauchos went on an 11-0 run to lead 49-44. The Roadrunners responded with a 20-6 spurt of their own to take a 64-55 lead into the final media timeout of the second.

    When UCSB (0-13) cut the lead back to four points, Brittany Sims and Alyssa Shannon (Stockdale) combined to make six free throws to push it back to 70-60.

    "We tried to stress to our kids that even though UCSB didn't have a winning record, they were going to play hard," CSUB coach Greg McCall said.
