Ryan Wright had a homer, two doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored to lead the Bakersfield Blaze to a 5-3 victory Monday over the High Desert Mavericks at Sam Lynn Ballpark.

It was the fourth straight win for Bakersfield, it's best streak of the season.

Bakersfield (15-29) trailed 2-1 before scoring four fifth-inning runs. The rally was highlighted by Wright's two-out, three-run homer.

Starter Carlos Contreras (2-4), the first of four Blaze pitchers, earned the win. He allowed one earned run in five innings, struck out four and walked three.

El'Hajj Muhammad worked the ninth and earned his fifth save.

The series concludes tonight at Sam Lynn, starting at 7:30 p.m..

CSUB WAC tourney games on air

At least two of Cal State Bakersfield's games at the Western Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament will be broadcast on KGEO AM 1230, CSUB announced.

Wednesday's tourney-opener for CSUB (35-21, 18-9 WAC) against San Jose State (17-38, 11-16) will be an internet-only broadcast starting at 12:50 p.m.

But Thursday's and Friday's games, which both start at 5 p.m., will be carried on KGEO.

CSUB, the tournament's top seed, will face Sacramento State (33-23, 14-13) on Thursday and Texas-San Antonio (31-23, 15-11) on Friday.

If the Roadrunners reach Sunday's WAC Tournament title game, which will determine the WAC's automatic qualifier into the NCAA Tournament, it will be broadcast on KGEO starting at 10:45 a.m.

Single-game access for online audio is available for $1.99. The entire tournament can be purchased for $4.99 on GoRunners.com.

3 Golden Hawks sign with colleges

Three more Centennial seniors signed letters of intent to play college sports, making it 11 Golden Hawks who will compete at the next level.

Bryn Williamson, the area's top pole vaulter, will attend Cal State Fullerton on a track and field scholarship. She cleared a personal-record 11 feet, 6 inches at the Reedley Invitational last month.

The other Centennial athletes signing Monday were Todd Nicks, who will play baseball at Bellevue (Neb.) University; and Jamie Clark, who will play soccer at Biola University in La Mirada.

Meet Bakersfield Sound players

The Bakersfield Sound collegiate summer baseball team, which begins play June 3 at Bakersfield Christian High School, will have a meet-and-greet from noon-4 p.m. Saturday at Dick's Sporting Goods, 9300 Rosedale Hwy.

The Sound, which will include Bakersfield College and Cal State Bakersfield players as well as recently-graduated high school players, will be joined at Saturday's event by Bakersfield native Sean Barker, who was a California League all-star and also played with the Colorado Rockies.
