SAN JOSE -- Juan Silverio hit a solo home run, and Juan Perez, Dominic D'Anna and Chris Berset had two hits apiece to lead the Bakersfield Blaze to an 8-5 victory Monday over the San Jose Giants in a California League baseball game.
The victory was the second straight for Bakersfield (7-18), which trailed 4-0 after two innings.
D'Anna and Berset each had a double and three RBIs, and teammate Devin Harris had two hits and two RBIs, as the Blaze rackd up 12 hits against four San Jose pitchers.
Jake Johson (2-1) earned the win for Bakersfield despite allowing five earned runs in six innings. He struck out three, walked one and allowed nine hits.
Brian Pearl, the third Blaze pitcher, earned his second save of the season after working a scoreless ninth.
The teams square off again at 7 p.m. today.
Richardson leads CSUB golfers
SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Cal State Bakersfield senior Daniel Richardson followed his America Sky Conference Championship-opening round of 72 on Monday with a 72 Tuesday and remained tied for sixth heading into today's final 18 holes.
Richardson is in a three-way tie for sixth at The Dominion Country Club, three strokes behind leader Bryce Edmister (70-71-141) of Binghamton.
CSUB's Dylan Lym shaved seven strokes off of his opening-round 78 to card a second-round 71 and is tied for 23rd at 149. He recorded five birdies Tuesday. Junior Chase Goodvin bounced back from Monday's 85 with a second-round 73 to move from 55th place to 45th.
After 36 holes, the Roadrunners were eighth, among 12 teams, with a 605 (310-295). Also playing for CSUB are seniors Matt Hammons (76-79-155, T37) and Patrick Bell (84-84-168, 54th).
Southern Utah led by one stroke after two rounds with a 2-over 581 in a tournament where an automatic bid to the May 16-18 NCAA Regional Championships is up for grabs.
The winning team, as well as the lowest-scoring individual not on the first-place team, will earn the bids.
