Elmore: Salinas 'positive' about wanting Blaze

BY ZACH EWING Californian staff writer
    Friday, Sep 26 2014 08:31 PM

Bakersfield Blaze owner D.G. Elmore said his meeting Tuesday with the Salinas city council provided no roadblocks to his plans to move the Blaze to that city.

Then again, he said Salinas hasn't had to answer any difficult questions yet. "We weren't asking them to vote on anything, so who's going to say no to baseball?" Elmore said. "They were all very positive about wanting the team to come. Now we'll start engaging with them to ask about tax rebates and things like that."

The Blaze, the Class-A advanced affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, will remain at Sam Lynn Ballpark at least for the 2015 season. Elmore is exploring the possibility that he could move the team to a new stadium in Salinas in 2016.
