Local report: First-place Blaze wins 5th straight

By THE BAKERSFIELD CALIFORNIAN

Juan Silva's RBI double with one out in the seventh inning tied the game and Kyle Waldrop added a sacrifice fly later in the inning that was the difference in the Bakersfield Blaze's 6-5 win over Inland Empire Monday night at Sam Lynn Ballpark.

It was the fifth straight win for Bakersfield, which has the California League's best record (24-8).

Silva also doubled leading off the first inning and scored on Zach Vincej's double. Vincej later scored on Marquez Smith's RBI single. Waldrop hit a solo homer in the third.

Blaze relievers Layne Somsen (winning pitcher, 1-0) and Kyle McMyne (second save) didn't allow a baserunner over the final 3-1/3 innings.

John Tolisano and Yovan Gonzalez opened the seventh with singles. After a strikeout, Silva doubled to left.
