Judge in Crisp & Cole case chooses October for next court date

A federal judge in the Crisp & Cole Real Estate mortgage fraud case on Friday scheduled the next status conference for Oct. 7, agreeing with defense lawyers that several months were needed to review extensive computer evidence seized by the government.
Seven of 10 defendants who were indicted in January showed up to court in Fresno Friday, while the other three had waivers allowing lawyers to appear in their stead. All 10 are out of custody.
The defendants in court Friday were firm principals David Crisp and Carl Cole and associates: Jayson Costa; Jeriel Salinas; Robinson Nguyen; Crisp's wife, Jennifer; and Cole's son Caleb. The three who had waivers were associates Julie Farmer, Sneha Mohammadi and Michael Munoz.
January's 56-count indictment alleges conspiracy to commit bank, mail and wire fraud and to launder money from about 2004 to roughly 2007. Charges vary for each person named.
