'Californian Radio': Can Republicans grab Rubio's old seat?

By The Bakersfield Californian

Michael Rubio's abrupt resignation from his 16th District state Senate seat last month has Kern County Republicans suddenly filled with hope over the prospect -- perhaps a longshot, perhaps not -- of pulling one away from the Democrats' side of the ledger and possibly denying them a supermajority in the state senate.

Republican strategist Stan Harper and Bakersfield City Councilman Russell Johnson, who has been mentioned as a possible candidate, join Editorial Page Editor Robert Price, the host of Tuesday's "Californian Radio," to talk about the special election to fill that seat.

The show airs from 9 to 10 a.m. on KERN-AM 1180. To call in with a question or comment, dial 842-KERN. To listen to archived shows, visit www.bakersfield.com/CalifornianRadio.
