Political notebook: Kings County man seeks Senate seat

Alfredo Benavides, a former school board trustee and frequent political candidate from Kings County, has announced he will run for the 16th California Senate District seat from which Michael Rubio recently resigned.
Benavides, according to the Hanford Sentinel, said he would not raise money for a 2012 run for Kings County Supervisor and instead trust God to choose who would win the seat. He later dropped out of the race, according to the statement he released Wednesday announcing his Senate race.
