'First Look': Head of Kern's Democratic party talks elections

By THE BAKERSFIELD CALIFORNIAN

The chairwoman of the Kern County Democratic Party talked about going out and beating the bushes for voters -- and suggested there are a lot more Democrats here than people think -- during an appearance Monday appearance on "First Look with Scott Cox."

"It's not there are so few of us. It's that we're not speaking up," Candi Easter said.

Editorial Page Editor Robert Price asked how Democrat registrations have caught up so much to Republican registrations.

"That's the way we can win elections, by registering voters," Easter said.

She said the effort is even more successful when people sign up to vote by mail.

Host Scott Cox asked about 5th District Supervisor Leticia Perez entering the race for the 16th District Senate seat after being a county supervisor only a few months. Easter said she believes Perez is the most qualified candidate for the job.
