Hey, kids: Report even the 'jokes'

Another day, another schoolyard threat. A Taft junior high school student is in trouble for a cellphone prank in which he threatened classmates with physical harm. And in Tehachapi, we have word of a student's threat to bring a gun to school. That, too, was deemed a joke.
The connection? In both cases, other students reported what they'd heard to authorities -- joke or no joke. In a time when we often don't hear about threats until after the fact, that qualifies as progress. Let the cops decide if the threat is real.
