I recently returned from a trip to Tucson, Ariz., a metro area of some 1 million people -- and yet no trash on the main roads or freeways. No graffiti on the beautiful designed walls along the freeways, either.
Why can't we do this same thing here? Why do the people of Bakersfield care so little for the city where they live?
No wonder the lady from Oregon didn't want to stay here. What is Arizona doing that California isn't doing?
My relatives were amazed to learn that people throw dirty diapers out on the ground. It's sad, very sad.
