This vote bad enough; do we have to talk 2016?

Our nation isn't going to hell in a handbasket -- it's already there. Final results from the Tuesday election were not even completely tallied when network talking heads began speculating about which candidates would run for president in 2016! Part of the problem with our election cycle is that there is no cycle. The next election begins even before the last one has closed. We are in full-time election mode, and no candidate, or electorate, can weather such a stretched-out process.
All of the fiscally responsible propositions were defeated here in California. It's just more spend, spend, spend. From Sacramento to Washington, legislators refuse to face the realities of our economic future. If you think the coming fiscal cliff is scary, just wait a few years until Medicare and Social Security finally succumb to negative cash flows. You haven't seen any pain, yet.
In California, well, what can one say about this state? $100 billion for a train to nowhere while our freeways are curb-to-curb potholes. I don't think that a Democratic legislator has driven the 5, 10 or 40 interstates in many years, or they would certainly rethink the high-speed rail boondoggle.
And Propositions 30, 31 and 32 --please, don't get me started.
Tuesday, Nov. 6, was a sad day in U.S. and California history.
