Racism on both sides

By The Bakersfield Californian

The recent letter, "Racism alive and well," tried to make a point about race relations in the U.S., but the writer seems to have conveniently disregarded half of the statistics on the 2008 presidential election.

He reported that while Barack Obama won the overall vote, John McCain beat Obama by an "impressive 12 percent margin among white voters." He reports that Obama only received 43 percent of the white vote and sees this as a sign of racism.

Was he not aware that nationwide exit polls showed Obama won 95 percent of the black vote to McCain's 4 percent? There seems to be plenty of racism going around on both sides.
