Court oversteps in rejecting law

By The Bakersfield Californian

I am watching for the Supreme Court's decision on same-sex marriage with some trepidation. I, for one, do not care who marries whom. but what I am greatly concerned about is how we as a society have let lawyers, judges and politicians overrule the vote of the people. What has happened to the rights of the voters?

We as a society take our voting privilege seriously. But we do absolutely nothing when these lawyers, judges and politicians take that away from us. Proposition 8 is a perfect example, among others. We as a society said "no," but somewhere the will of the people has been lost. Voters (the people) of this state passed Prop. 8, and that should be what counts. Where has it gone wrong?
