The issue over high-speed rail is a major concern for the entire valley and the state of California. I believe very seriously that it is inevitably going to start. We need it very badly. It would bring hundreds, if not thousands, of jobs. They would be long-term, as well as short-term, good-paying jobs.
The amount of travel time would be amazingly beneficial to California. The talk of cost is very important, and I see both sides. The truth is, the longer some politicians and other dignitaries fight HSR, the cost will continue to go up substantially. I think most people know it will eventually happen; the time to do it is now so the cost does not keep soaring more and more.
I believe it would make it easier for Californians to get better jobs so they could commute back and forth and not be forced to stay in a community they cannot afford. There are always positives and negatives of such a big project. But the positives outweigh the negatives by far. The local economies would benefit greatly.
