This vet honored by performance

By The Bakersfield Californian

On Friday morning, along with a couple of dozen other veterans, I was invited to attend a Memorial Day celebration at College Heights Elementary School. What an honor! What an outstanding performance! We were all surprised and thankful for the reception we "old-timers" received. The performance by the school orchestra and chorus was especially wonderful.

I'd like to thank the school principal, Abraham Rivera, and his staff for allowing us onto their campus and further commend them for the well-behaved, well-disciplined and courteous students on hand. It certainly makes one proud to be an American to see such excellent demonstrations of patriotism by such well-mannered children. It gives one hope for the future of America when too often we see or hear little else but what's wrong with America.

Good job, College Heights School! Thank you and Semper Fi!
