Leaving the GOP in disgust
By The Bakersfield Californian
I plan to re-register as an independent and leave the embarrassing and disgusting Republican Party. My views have never been to speak with such disregard about the president, no matter what political party he's affiliated with. I have found those so vocal, and in the position to be so, completely disgusting. (Rush Limbaugh, Donald Trump, etc.)
I do not wish to be in the company of those so ignorant as to portray our president as a broken-down automobile or the single power that kills America. When individuals become so passionate that common decency no longer matters, that is going too far. It has been the supporters, the Republicans, who originally turned me off to Mitt Romney. Unfair to the man, I admit, but when your supporters choose to intimidate their employees with their jobs (Koch brothers) or openly close doors to avoiding fiscal cliffs (John Boehner) before they are presented, it's time to look elsewhere.
I worry for my 3-year-old daughter's future. Not because of nuclear war, as in my time, but by the example being set by Americans. It is truly disgraceful. This Republican voted for Barack Obama. Why? Because I'm an American first.
