So, once again water rates are going up. California Water Service notified its customers that they are going to raise rates between 21.5 percent and a whopping 33.6 percent, depending on the type of customer, from 2014 to 2016. We know that everything is going up, but what is interesting is the irony of it all. We are encouraged to conserve, thereby using less water, and then what happens? Here is the answer from the California Water Service Notice sent to all CWS customers, and I quote: "With lower water usage in your area, rates then have to be increased to cover the fixed costs." Bottom line: Conserve and get punished for it.
