It's not gun laws

By The Bakersfield Californian

The writer of the May 2 letter "Consequences of NRA's assault on gun laws" is misplacing the blame. The tragic death of a 2 year old has nothing to do with gun laws or the NRA. It has everything to do with gang culture, criminality, and lack of respect for our community and humanity in general.

Does the writer honestly think these thugs would follow stricter gun laws when they don't follow any other laws? No, it would only make it more difficult for law-abiding, responsible people to defend their families. He is correct on one point -- guns are designed "to kill a living thing."

Until there are no more violent criminals entering people's homes by force, raping, kidnapping, beating and whatever other horrific crimes these animals commit, I'll keep my gun and I'll keep practicing.
