President compromises his faith
By The Bakersfield Californian
As a black pastor and former Kern High School District board member, I feel compelled to express my opinion on President Obama's endorsement of same-sex marriage.
Before his announcement, I actually thought he was well on his way to becoming one of America's greatest presidents. Not because of his color, but other qualities. However, it's amazing how easy we as human beings can be deceived, including myself. I never would have thought our president, who professes to be a Christian, would compromise his faith for political gain.
Christian leaders should be willing to follow the teachings of Christ at all cost. Same-sex marriage is biblically, spiritually and morally wrong, and like the president has boldly used his platform of influence to promote it, I challenge pastors to use their God-given authority and denounce it.
