Nancy J. Gallegly, 72, was born in Los Angeles, California on November 7, 1941 to Kenneth and Walcie Gunter. Following the untimely death of her father, Walcie remarried Wrenn Trone, and together they raised Nancy as their only daughter. Nancy met the love of her life Wayne Gallegly as a teenager while working as a waitress at Knott's Berry Farm. After she graduated from Cerritos College, the two married on June 3, 1961 and relocated to Bakersfield, CA in 1963 to start a family.
As a strong member of the community and a natural born leader, Nancy was involved in several Bakersfield clubs and lunch groups where she was known as much for her kind-heartedness as she was for her stubbornness. Her friends, colleagues, and neighbors respected Nancy's generosity, positive attitude, and courage and often referred to her as the most respected woman in their community. Nancy worked for the Greenfield School District as a cafeteria manager for over 40 years where day-in-and-day-out she positively affected and improved the lives of her students and coworkers who she considered family. Her passions included cooking, NASCAR, traveling to New York to visit her oldest grandson, and her pets which over the years included horses, mules, goats, chickens, turtles, dogs, and cats.
She is preceded in death by her husband Wayne Gallegly and is survived by her daughters, Stacie and Kellie, and grandchildren Ren and Andrew Herring and Ryan and Sydney Rudy, and first-cousin and best friend Susan DePaul and her family. She was deeply loved and will be sincerely missed by all.
