Our Beloved Mother and Grandmother went home to the Lord to join her husband Steve. She left us with her usual quick wit and humor which we will all miss. Ruth was born in Bakersfield where she met her husband of 45 years and raised 7 children. Mom enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was fond of her casino road trips. She loved her chocolates and her lottery scratchers. Along with being an active member, she attended Eucharistic Adoration at St. Francis Church.

She was 88 years old, a housewife, and before she married worked at Brock's downtown in the gift wrap department and ran the elevator. Her Mother passed when Ruth was about 12 years old and she helped raise her three little sisters. She spoke highly of her father, who was from Portugal and how he worked so hard to raise them by himself. Her biggest accomplishment is her own family; she never took sides, always letting us work it out between ourselves. She always wanted to play an instrument, so she bought herself a keyboard and a few music books but never had the time due to raising her family. She loved listening to music while doing housework or ironing like Lipstick on Your Collar, Que Sera Sera, Celito Lindo, and she loved Spanish music in the style of Ramon Ayala and Mariachi music even though she only understood a little Spanish. She was always open armed to friends of family members too. In closing, if asked about her luck playing the slot machines she'd tell you, "Oh I'm still playing on their money" and if there are any slots where she is now, that's what she's doing. She is preceded in death by her husband, Steve and son, Michael. She leaves behind sons, Steven Jr. (Lydia)Gomez, Greg (Lupe) Gomez, and Joe Gomez; her daughters, Linda Garcia, Anita Larroque and Marianne (Greg) Diaz, 29 Grandchildren, 29 Great Grandchildren, 6 Great-Great Grandchildren and 3 sisters.

The family would like to thank Brandi DelaGarza for the wonderful care shown to Mom. Also thanks to Around The Clock Services, Kaiser Palliative Care and Hoffmann Hospice.
