Carolyn B. Fisher was born on May 13, 1938 in Healdton, Oklahoma and passed away on May 5, 2014 in Bakersfield. She was preceded in death by her father Joseph Chester Beard of Ardmore, Oklahoma, mother Velma D. Grumbles-Wilson, and loving stepfather Ralph T. (Tom) Wilson of Shafter and Bakersfield. Carolyn worked as a Deputy for the Kern County Sheriff's Department for 14 years and prided herself in being the first female in the Department allowed to wear pants, instead of the traditional skirt. She was a gifted oil painter and jewelry maker, as well as an avid antique collector.
Carolyn is survived by her loving husband of over 58 years, Robert J. (Bob) Fisher, daughter Karen and husband Jim Bennett, son Kevin and wife Jennifer Fisher of Bakersfield and son Kyle Fisher of Los Angeles, adopted dog Herbie, as well as brothers Tom Wilson, and wife Sandy, of Bakersfield and Craig Wilson, and wife Lorraine, of Cornwall, New York. One of Carolyn's proudest roles was that of grandmother - she is survived by her six grandchildren: Sheri Shaffstall, Alysen and husband Francois Gelinas, Adam Bennett, Cassandra Fisher, Kyle Bennett, Joel Fisher and fiance Virginia (Gigi) Zuniga, as well as five great-grandchildren: Kayla Shaffstall, Ethan Fenton, Sheldon Gelinas, Liam Gelinas and Cole Morris.
Visitation will be held at Mish Funeral Home in Oildale on Tuesday, May 13 from 4 - 8pm. Graveside services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park on Wednesday, May 14 at 10am.
