Pistachio ice cream. Almond dipped chicken skewers. Those are just two examples of the food you can try at the Kern County Nut Festival on June 7.
Besides the delicious food, you can hop on stage and share a nutty, funny true story at the Bena Depot location on the southeast side of the Kern County Museum, where the event will be held.
Roger Perez from the museum said the story telling will begin with a local performer who does a "fantastic impression of Mark Twain."
Also new this year are three separate entrances to the festival. Food booths will be at the entrances, with more than 30 vendors spread across the museum, Perez added.
The kids area is four times the size it was last year with laser tag for adults and kids.
The festival is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 7 at the museum, 3801 Chester Ave. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children.
