Love liberty! Love freedom! Love America! Those themes will be wrapped into one packed Independence Day celebration called "I Love America" kicking off at 2 p.m. July 4 at Bakersfield College's Memorial Stadium.

"You take one day where you just roll around in the red, white and blue," simulcast host Scott Cox said Tuesday on "First Look with Scott Cox."

Rick Moore, producer of the "I Love America" celebration, introduced the public to the event, which has been in the works since 2011.

"It is going to be huge," Moore said.

The I Love America Liberty Festival takes place from 2 to 7 p.m., and includes everything from a patriotic singing contest to a cutest babies contest for kids up to age 3 to a photo contest. Entrance to that part of the day is free.

Then, at 7:30 p.m., the night -- called the I Love America Freedom Celebration -- heats up with a marching band, skydivers, the Bakersfield College Drum Line, military honors and the Lights of Liberty fireworks display.

"BC needs this. The town needs this," Cox said.

Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. portion of the day are $12 to $15 for adults and $5 to $7 for children. Discounts are available for early ticket purchases. Tickets are available at Canyon Hills Assembly of God Church, Emporium Western Store, Henley's Photo and the event Facebook page for "I Love America Bakersfield."

Find more details -- and sign up for the contests, volunteer and buy tickets -- at iloveamericabakersfield.com.

You can also enter to win a family four-pack of tickets at Bakersfield.com/contest or look for the link at the top of the "First Look with Scott Cox" Facebook page.

"It's almost over the top but it's not," Cox said of all the activities at the event.
