Ward 4 opening on Keep Bakersfield Beautiful Committee
By THE BAKERSFIELD CALIFORNIAN
The City of Bakersfield is looking for a person to serve as an alternate member of the Keep Bakersfield Beautiful Committee, representing Ward 4. The opening is due to the resignation of Dorothy Vokolek, whose term expires in November 2014.
The committee recommends policies and programs to the City Council to promote beautification and anti-litter efforts in Bakersfield.
The alternate member only has voting rights if the Ward 4 regular member is absent from a committee vote. The Ward 4 alternate will be nominated by Bob Smith, the new city councilman for Ward 4, and will be confirmed by a majority vote on the City Council. The alternate's term will run concurrent with Smith's term on the council, which ends in 2014.
To apply, pick up an application from the City Clerk's Office at 1600 Truxtun Ave. or at the city's website: www.bakersfieldcity.us. The deadline to return applications to the city clerk is 5 p.m. Jan. 30, 2013.
If you're interested in serving on the Keep Bakersfield Beautiful Committee for this opening, you're encouraged to contact each council member about your interest and qualifications.
